The forthcoming Nubia NaviX Ultra has received the approval required to access Chinese mobile networks. The device is being developed with the Doubao team at ByteDance and is expected to go on sale during September.
Its central feature is the Doubao Phone Assistant. It is designed to understand natural instructions and perform tasks across applications, such as finding information, preparing a route or working with content stored on the phone.
Network approval confirms a regulatory step, not the quality of the finished service. Safe control of other apps will depend on permissions, developer support and reliable interpretation of each user's intent.
Agent based phones could replace a sequence of taps with one complex request. Users will still expect clear control over their data and the ability to stop or correct every automated action.
