Xiaomi has signed its first agreements with European car dealers at the IFA exhibition in Berlin. The company is beginning to build a distribution and service network before its planned vehicle exports start in 2027.
The carmaker intends to enter developed markets first and has indicated that countries with right hand drive may receive the initial offering. Specific markets, prices and models have not yet been announced.
Selling an electric car in Europe requires more than regulatory approval. A manufacturer must secure spare parts, train service staff, arrange financing and persuade customers that long term support will be available.
The agreements therefore mark a preparatory step rather than a sales launch. Xiaomi already knows the European consumer electronics market, but cars bring stricter regulation and a much longer relationship with every customer.
