A Xiaomi accessory called Pocket Guitar has appeared in software code and design renders. The small folding controller is intended to use the rear display of a compatible phone and simulate both chords and strumming gestures.
The concept shows physical buttons and touch sensitive grooves. It appears to depend on the Chinese karaoke app Changba, making it more of a playful singing accessory than a complete musical instrument.
Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the product or any sales plan. It is therefore unclear whether this is a forthcoming accessory, an internal prototype or an idea that will never reach the market.
The design nevertheless illustrates a new use for a secondary phone display beyond notifications and photography. Its success would depend on control accuracy, software availability and the price of the complete setup.
