China is introducing a unified Taihua mark for micro dramas in a special licensing category. A three second symbol appears at the start, while a smaller version remains in the upper right corner during playback.
The first eleven licensed titles already use the mark. New productions are expected to adopt it by the end of October, making it easier for viewers to identify content that has passed the relevant approval process.
Micro dramas are short episodic stories designed mainly for mobile viewing. The rapidly growing format combines modest production costs, frequent plot turns and distribution through social and video platforms.
A common mark makes the origin of approved content clearer, although it says nothing about artistic quality. For producers, it also adds a clearly visible element to the regulatory framework.
